Visit Cobh Co. Cork.
Staying with County Cork on our Irish Heritage Town trail the next town to visit is Cobh. The town is built on a steep hill on Great Island in Cork Harbour, and it’s port was the departure point for more than 2.5 million people who emigrated to North America between 1848 and 1950. Famously on 11 April 1912 Cobh, then known as Queenstown, was the final port of call for the RMS Titanic as she set out across the Atlantic on her ill-fated maiden voyage.
Cobh is a pretty town and it’s architecture is distinctly Victorian, it is only a 20 minutes from Cork City and a 1.5 hrs drive from Lisheen Castle.
